JU student nominated for Global Swede 2016

Jönköping University has nominated Bruke Mekuria, student at Jönköping International Business School, to the Global Swede award.

On May 18 the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs arranged the ceremony Global Swede for international students. The purpose of the ceremony is to recognize foreign students and their role as ambassadors of Sweden. To receive the award, the student must have good academic results, be prominent in innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship within his or her academic skills and be a good ambassador for the university and for Sweden.

The price was awarded for the sixth time. This year Oscar Stenström the State Scretary for Minister for Enterprise and Innovation, Mikael Damberg, awarded the price, together with Annika Rembe, General Director of the Swedish Institute.

Bruke Mekuria comes from Ethiopia and is a student at the Master's programme IT, Management and Innovation at JIBS. He is nominated by Jönköping University with the motivation:

”Bruke Mekuria is enrolled in the master program of IT, Management and Innovation at Jönköping International Business School, Jönköping University. He has concluded all his courses with very good results. As a member of the Education Quality Group, Bruke has contributed to educational development and activities, as well as in accreditation work. He also acted as facilitator for the World Information Architecture Day 2016 in Jönköping. Bruke is characterized by very good social abilities including an outstanding inter-cultural competence. He is an excellent ambassador for Jönköping University. We are proud to nominate him as Global Swede 2016.”
