The management team at the research intensive department Materials and Manufacturing is an important forum to ensure high quality research in collaboration, that the education at the School of Engineering is relevant from a professional perspective, and that the work of the department meets the needs both within and outside the university.

The research operation within Materials and Manufacturing is carried out in five different areas of competence:

  • foundry technology
  • solidification and microstructure modelling
  • materials characterisation and properties modelling
  • surface technology
  • simulation methodology

The management team consists of the managers for the areas of competence and the research leader. The group is responsible for follow up of research and investments, for initiating improvements, and for updating and developing courses within the field to ensure that the research findings are rapidly spread to society.
