From Elvis to the Next Big Thing: Understanding Society through Pop Culture 7,5 Credits

Pop culture reflects the society of its time. Ethnic and masculine clichés and gender stereotypes in films and cartoons and on TV are very telling examples. Pop culture can also spark social change by showing and encouraging alternative lifestyles or by demonising someone or depicting someone as an enemy. Pop culture is thus a highly interesting subject of scientific study.
