Streaming Media, Contemporary Society and Cultural Memory 7,5 Credits

Course Contents

•The technological and cultural development of streaming services such as HBO and Netflix
•Contemporary media theories in relation to streaming media
•How memories of the past and societal issues, such as racism, power, and inequality, are represented and communicated through streaming media platforms
•The course is seminar-based and focuses on updated series such as Black Mirror, Unorthodox, Chernobyl, and The Handmaid’s Tale.

Prerequisites

Bachelor's degree (i.e. the equivalent of 180 ECTS credits at an accredited university) including independent, theoretical based work, i.e. a thesis or the equivalent. English 6/English B in the Swedish upper secondary school system or international equivalent and 45 credits from the master's programme, or equivalent.
