Production Automation - Technology & Integration 5 Credits
The main purpose of the course revolves around introduction of the applications that automation systems could have for production and manufacturing operations. The course consists of different themes, including industrial robotics, automation equipment and hardware components, as well as practical insights and discussions on why and how to automate in productions.Course Contents
The course aims to provide knowledge and skills in automation so that after completing the course participants can identify technologies that are available and suitable for implementing automation. The course also contributes to increasing the knowledge of integrating new automation solutions with current production equipment and technologies.The course includes the following elements:
- Introduction to the main elements of automation projects
- Identification of tasks that can be automated (automation vs manual)
- Technologies used in automation e.g., sensors, material handling equipment, end-of-arm-tooling (EOAT), etc.
- Conceptual design of automation stations
- Benchmarking of automation technologies
Prerequisites
General entry requirments and at least 2 years of work experience (or the equivalent). Applicants with at least 180 credits within the technical/scientific field are exempt from the work experience requirement. English proficiency is required.Level of Education: Undergraduate
