Applied Industry 4.0 5 Credits

The course contains the basic concepts needed for implementation of industry 4.0. The students will get an understanding of the defining concepts and technologies of industry 4.0 and how to get up and running with data gathering, analysis and the digitalization of production systems. The course covers different areas such as mechanical engineering, control technology, production technology, automation, computer science and electrical engineering.

Course Contents

The aim of this course is to provide students with knowledge and understanding of the key concepts for the Design for Industry 4.0, current practices, tools and processes, and possible future developments routes.

The course includes the following elements:
- Internet of things platforms
- Technology for device communication
- Sensors for data collection
- Data collection and storage using time series databases
- Data analysis and visualization
- Design of a control system, visualization and data storage of a real-life case

The course is mainly practical and oriented towards implementation of logic in Node-Red using MQTT, visualization of real-time and history data using InfluxDB and Grafana.

Prerequisites

The applicant must have 40 credits in the main field of study, Technology, and at least 2 years of relevant work experience in the industry
