JIBS receives international accreditation:

World-leading quality assurance for Jönköping International Business School

Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) is now part of an exclusive group of less than one percent of the world's business schools. After undergoing an extensive evaluation program JIBS has been accredited by EQUIS.

This prestigious accreditation is only held by three business schools in Sweden: the business schools in Stockholm and Gothenburg as well as Lund School of Economics and Management. As of today, there are four business schools in Sweden – and ten in the Nordic countries – that have received the EQUIS seal of approval by EFMD (the European Foundation for Management Development).

“This international seal of approval is a recognition for JIBS as a business school, but also for our educational programmes, our research profile and a proof that there are strong, world-class business school outside the three Swedish metropolitan regions. This means that we further strengthen our international competitiveness and attractiveness. All of us at JIBS are very proud of this achievement", says Professor Johan Roos, Managing Director and Dean at JIBS.

The accreditation is also a recognition of the extensive collaboration that JIBS conducts both in the region and globally, combining the local entrepreneurial culture with extensive international collaboration. The EQUIS accreditation is welcomed by the business community:

“For us, JIBS’ enhanced status improves opportunities both in terms of skills and research usefulness. I see this as a confidence booster for the region in particular, but also for Sweden as a whole”, says Per-Arne Andersson, CEO of Kinnarps and also JIBS alumnus.

The accreditation is also significant for JIBS as it can lead to increased cooperation with other recognized business schools.

JIBS has been in the accreditation process over a period of four years. The evaluation is based on criteria such as quality of education, research strength, collaboration with industry, degree of internationalization and organization.

More information about EFMD and EQUIS:

The EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) is a school accreditation system. In order for a school or faculty to be accredited it must achieve certain criteria set up by the EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development). EFMD has over 800 members in 81 countries, however, only about 150 business schools are EQUIS accredited. EFMD also accredits individual educational programmes, called EPAS (EFMD Programme Accreditation System).
