Every year, a jury of Professors from the Centre for Family Enterprise and Ownership (CeFEO) at JIBS evaluates and awards Bachelor and Master theses on family business topics written by JIBS students during the academic year.
To qualify for the competition, a thesis should meet the following criteria: address family business issues, theoretically and/or empirically; have received a grade of at least a B in the final exam.
Winning thesis have discussed and studied important aspects for the business literature, such as: the performance of Swedish listed family-firms; family capital influence on the internationalization of family firms; family, friends, and the international business: the interplay between networks and family business internationalization; success factors in the relationship between the non-family CEO and the owner family; succession intentions in ethnic family businesses with emphasis on transfer of tacit knowledge and social capital; the role of socioemotional wealth and social capital in post-disaster recovery of small family businesses; a cultural extension of the concept of familiness, through a case study on Spendrups Bryggeri AB; the family name as a brand.
We consider this competition a unique opportunity for disseminating our research interest between the students of JIBS, reinforcing their interest toward the family business dimension.
