Dr Claudia Gillberg, affiliate researcher at Encell, in collaboration with Dr Simon Duffy at the Centre for Welfare Reform in the UK, has submitted a new report to the UN’s independent expert appointed by the Human Rights Council. The report, "Extreme Poverty in a Time of Austerity,” shows how British austerity measures have impacted different groups.

In the report, Gillberg and Duffy show, among other things, how people with low and high incomes have suffered from various types of cuts and/or tax increases. A group that has been particularly vulnerable is people with disabilities. According to the authors, in this group there is even a clear correlation between suicide rates and the British government's welfare reforms.
