Many Swedish companies like Ericsson, ABB, Volvo and IKEA are established in China and JIBS had the specific profile and programmes I was looking for. I was convinced that the Chinese who have international study experience, good language skills and knowledge about foreign markets are the ones that stand the best chance at getting prominent international jobs.
The year I finished my master's degree I had the unique opportunity to go to the University of California Davis, and was admitted to their MBA programme. After that, I returned to JIBS to complete another master programme, Entrepreneurial Management. In the meantime I was working part-time for a company, sprung from JIBS, in Jönköping. In the summer of 2008 I applied for a job at IKEA China and started shortly after.
It is no exaggeration to say that the time I spent in Sweden was the highlight of my life so far. The return on the time invested was higher than I could have ever imagined. JIBS is unique thanks to its international culture. There are so many international students and you are exposed to different cultures and people throughout your studies.
Something special about JIBS which helped my career were the projects with companies. We had many case studies and projects where we had to cooperate with companies. No knowledge is useful or can be remembered without in-field practice.
