New VPN Solution

The VPN upgrade is complete, and the new service is now available. Phones and personal computers require reconfiguration.

SSL VPN vs. IPsec VPN

The update has meant that we have switched from SSL VPN to IPsec VPN.

IPsec VPN

  • Protects the entire connection
  • Higher security and better performance

SSL VPN

  • Protects parts of the traffic
  • More known security issues
  • Lower performance

In short: IPsec VPN is usually more secure and faster.

Purpose of the Update

The reason for updating the VPN service is to modernize it and enhance security for users. This improvement ensures that the service is both robust and future-proof.

What users need to do

If you use the VPN on a JU computer, you do not need to do anything; a new configuration will be automatically sent to all JU computers that have FortiClient installed. If you use FortiClient on a personal computer or on a phone, including JU phones, you will need to update the configuration yourself. New guides for this are available on the Helpdesk website.

If you have a JU computer running Linux, you’ll need to contact the IT Helpdesk for further assistance. Currently, there is no support for personal Linux computers.

If you encounter any problems, please feel free to contact the IT Helpdesk.
