Doctoral Student of the month -March 2012
I am an innovator, entrepreneur and Apple fanboy. I was born and raised in my beloved Jerusalem. So I am Palestinian, Arab, Middle Eastern and Levanter.
Becoming a doctoral student was a hard choice. I finished my master degree in the field of Information Systems from Lund University in 2008 and had two successful interviews at Microsoft and Accenture in Copenhagen, Denmark and JIBS as a well.
It was a hard decision whether to go back to the practical work environment or academia. After an extensive analysis of all choices I have at hand; JIBS was the most relevant one.
My research focuses and lies in digital and open innovation, software platforms and ecosystems, digital and social networks, as well as IS Development.
Apple and Google are changing the whole mobile landscape and the entire world with their platforms and ecosystems. It is the core of my study and interest to understand their employed strategies, actions and governance mechanisms. I have major contribution in this area and my research has been published in leading and high-ranked international Journals in the Information Systems discipline such as Information Systems Journal (ISJ) and top conferences such as International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) and Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS).
Simply, JIBS understands and cares about its students and employees. This special type of “care" creates an “Environment of Freedom" for everyone.
In addition, and based on my own experience, JIBS is just perfect in allocating resources for its employees. All my different requests have always been granted.
