Automated design of tooling for bending of aluminium profiles
A research project funded by KK-foundation and a group of manufacturing companies.
The overall project objective is to develop computer based methods that generates optimal configuration and geometry of tools and fixtures for bending of simple and complex aluminium profiles.
Due account shall be taken to the deformations arising in thin walled, complex cross sections of profiles and counteract these through preformingand/or constraints so that the resulting geometry will have the least possible deviation from nominal geometry. The system will utilise FEM based simulation of the bending process, optimisation using process constraints and parametric CAD.
