Challenge Driven Operations Development (C-dod) 5 Credits

This course focuses on how middle managers in operations should manage development work. In the course we systematically analyze the origin of development initiatives, goal setting in development work and choice of strategy for implementing development initiatives. The course is practice oriented and real-life challenges are used in all parts.

Course Contents

Within the area of operation management there exist numerous challenges related to the development of efficiency and effectiveness. In this course methodological strategies addressing challenge-based operations development are explored.

The course includes the following main elements:
- The systematic analysis of conditions that drives challenge-based development work in operation management
- The systematic analysis of goal setting in challenge-based development work in operation management.
- The systematic analysis of implementation strategies related to challenge-based development work in operation management.

Prerequisites

The applicant must hold the minimum of a bachelor's degree (ie. the equivalent of 180 ECTS credits at an accredited university) with at least 90 credits in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management or Civil Engineering or equivalent, and 15 credits Mathematics. English Language requirements corresponding to English 6 in the Swedish upper secondary school (or the equivalent). The applicant must also have 1 year of qualified work experience. It is possible to apply for exemption from a bachelor's degree and 15 credits Mathematics if the applicant has at least 5 years of qualified work experience.
