Preparatory course in English
The preparatory course in English aims to improve knowledge and skills related to reading, writing, speaking and listening with the objective to fully prepare international students for further academic studies conducted in English.
The course consists of lectures, seminars and group exercises in various fields of academic English (including critical thinking, research skills, research ethics and presentation skills) and has been designed specifically to meet the needs of non-native English speakers who wish to develop their English language competencies and be able to communicate effectively in an academic environment.
Course content and objectives include:
- applied grammar and phonetics
- vocabulary building
- texts representing different genres and media forms (reception and production)
- oral proficiency (developing correctness and confidence in speaking)
- listening comprehension
- scientific and critical approaches to various aspects of English studies
