Forskning

Helen Averys forskning är knuten till plattformen för Medie-, litteratur- och språkdidaktik, i forskningsspåret Cultural Transfer/Kulturell överföring samt plattformen för hållbarhetsforskning. Tidigare forskningsprojekt har undersökt språkpolicy i utbildning, samt villkoren för organisationsutveckling i ett interkulturellt skollandskap.  Helen arbetar för närvarande med deltagarbaserade och framtidsorienterade metodologier i forskningsprojekt som fokuserar på hållbarhetsomställningar i Mellanöstern, samt forskning om strategier för flyktingutbildning och utbildning av nyanlända.

Biografi

Helen är född i Chicago 1960. Hon har en licence ès lettres i allmän och tillämpad språkvetenskap, samt arabiska, som hon erhållit i Schweiz vid universiteten i Neuchâtel och Genève 1989. Sedan 1999 har hon varit bosatt i Sverige, där hon erhållit en breddmagister i pedagogik vid Lunds Universitet.

Förutom arbete för Röda Korset och KFUM/Ks världsorganisation har hon fram till 1999 arbetat med dokumentation, litterär översättning och facköversättning. Hon har även arbetat som radiojournalist och undervisat vid tolkskolan i Zürich.
