Visa and passport
We recommend you to apply for your visa as soon as you have received your Letter of Acceptance from the partner university.
Studying in an EU country
European citizens can study in the EU/EES countries without a visa. If you do not hold a European passport you should contact the Embassy or Consulate representing the country you will study in, to check whether you will need a visa or permit. Most embassies have a website where you can find useful information.
Studying in a country outside of the EU
If you are going to study in a country outside of the EU, you should contact the Embassy or Consulate representing the country you will study in, to check whether you will need a visa or permit. Most embassies have a website where you can find useful information.
If a visa or permit is required it is YOUR responsibility to apply for it and cover the expenses that might be involved. Make sure to start this process EARLY since embassies need time to handle such matters. We recommend you to apply for your visa as soon as you have received your Letter of Acceptance from the partner university. You may also need proof of vaccination and proof of funding (from CSN or your bank) for your visa application.
Passport
Check that your passport is valid for the duration of your planned stay abroad. Some countries also require the passport to be valid for six months after the date you plan to leave the foreign country. Note that passports (or international ID cards) are also required for travel within the EU.
