In May, the first student social safety round was carried out at Jönköping University (JU), an exercise that gathered around 30 participants, both from the companies within JU and student representatives. The aim was to jointly identify factors affecting students' work environment, with a particular focus on social and psychosocial aspects.

The participants included Associate Deans of Education with responsibility for students' work environment, representatives from the work environment committees (Operational Managers), student safety representatives, and representatives from the student organization Equal Opportunities (EQO). The Student Union management participated as observers.

The exercise was led by Johanna Träff (LOK), Gustav Sandberg (HHJ and main student protection officer), Marie Böwing (student equal opportunities coordinator) and Andreas Torén (head of unit for Student Support). It was carried out as a structured group work where the participants started from a specially developed checklist with 20 development areas. The checklist is a student-adapted version of the work environment round that is carried out within JU's activities and has been inspired by both HR's method support and experiences from Lund University.

Important basis for further work

“We are delighted with all the participants’ commitment to the exercise! The results will be an important basis for the continued work environment work in the coming academic year, both within each company's work environment committees and in the joint work to promote equal conditions and a good study environment,” says Andreas Torén.

The study social protection round is an activity within the framework of the Equality and Equal Opportunities Plan 2023-2026 and marks an important step in the development of the students' work environment at JU.
