Programme Outlines and Overviews
Corporate Entrepreneurship and Innovation 5 credits
Course content
You face a fundamental business challenge: how do you keep your organisation agile and innovative while managing established operations? Most companies struggle to maintain their entrepreneurial edge as they mature, often becoming rigid and risk-averse precisely when market conditions demand bold moves. Strategic entrepreneurship offers a solution by embedding innovation capabilities directly into corporate structures, enabling sustained growth through continuous renewal and reinvention.
This course builds your expertise across three interconnected domains. You will explore foundational concepts including entrepreneurial orientation, corporate venturing, business model adaptation, and organisational ambidexterity. The curriculum then shifts to practical enablers, examining how organisational structure, culture, and leadership practices can foster entrepreneurial behavior among employees. Finally, you will tackle growth trajectories and scalability challenges that emerge when established firms pursue new opportunities while maintaining core operations.
Upon completion, you can diagnose entrepreneurial gaps within existing organisations and design comprehensive solutions to strengthen innovative capacity. You will develop frameworks for balancing exploration of new opportunities with exploitation of current strengths, while creating systems that encourage calculated risk-taking throughout the organisation. Most importantly, you will gain the strategic perspective needed to contribute to sustainable innovation initiatives that generate measurable business impact.
