Programme Outlines and Overviews
Leading Organisational Development and Learning 5 credits
Course content
Organisations face unprecedented pressure to adapt and reinvent themselves amid market disruptions, geopolitical turbulence, and shifting stakeholder expectations. Traditional management approaches often fall short when dealing with complex human dynamics that determine whether change initiatives succeed or fail. Leaders across industries struggle to balance operational demands with the psychological realities of organisational transformation. You need practical frameworks that bridge organisational psychology with leadership skills to guide teams through uncertainty and transformation.
In this course, you will examine both planned and emergent approaches to organisational change, drawing from organisational behaviour research and applied psychology principles. The course covers stakeholder analysis and group dynamics, exploring how different constituencies respond to change initiatives. You will study team management strategies during transition periods and analyse the relationships between technology, organisational structure, and culture. The program focuses on how psychological factors influence change adoption and explores methods for aligning human behaviour with strategic objectives across different organisational contexts.
You will develop the ability to diagnose organisational readiness for change and design intervention strategies that account for psychological and cultural factors. You will master techniques for managing stakeholder expectations and pressure, facilitating team adaptation, and creating alignment between technological capabilities and human systems. The course equips you with skills to recognise early warning signs of implementation failure and respond with appropriate adjustments. By completion, you will possess the analytical tools and leadership capabilities necessary to contribute meaningfully to organisational transformations while maintaining employee engagement and operational effectiveness.
