Kursinnehåll

This course offers theoretical and real-world insights into globalisation of economic activity such as production, trade and investments. The course places emphasis on critical analysis of the benefits and limitations of globalisation in relation to sustainable development. The course provides an overview of the changing contours of the global economy, examines processes of global shifts, discusses the role of the state and economic policies and explores impacts of globalisation.

Connection to Research and Practice

The content of this course is closely connected to research regarding globalisation of economic activities and its implication for sustainable development. The course is theoretically grounded in economic growth and geographical economics with practical applications to several business sectors. Issues connected to globalisation and sustainability are fundamental to all research areas of JIBS.
Students are trained throughout the course to view globalization of economic activities from different perspectives where strengths and weaknesses are constantly discussed. Guest lecturers are invited to strengthen the students’ ability to bridge globalisation and sustainability in practice. The assignments are connected to globalisation and sustainability in specific sectors.

Förkunskapskrav

Bachelor's Degree in Business or Economics (i.e the equivalent of 180 credits at an accredited university).
