CEnSE Report Highlights Vital Role of Adult Education in Swedish Rural Areas

A recent report by CEnSE members Charlotta Mellander and Lina Bjerke from Jönköping International Business School emphasizes the significance of adult education in securing skills supply in Sweden's rural regions. The report underscores the absence of alternative education opportunities in these areas.

Following the joint budget presentation by the government and Sweden Democrats in September, which proposed a one-third reduction in funding for study associations, a spirited debate on the necessity of adult education has ensued.

Lina Bjerke, in conjunction with Charlotta Mellander, conducted analyses commissioned by the Swedish National Council of Adult Education. Bjerke argues that the proposed budget lacks a crucial understanding of the role of adult education in Sweden.

Further details on the reports can be found in Lina's Vertikals post here (in Swedish).
