Timur Uman and Co-Authors Win Best Paper Award for Research on Diversity in Multicultural Teams
MMTC member Timur Uman and co-authors Jacob Lauring, Christina L. Butler, Milena Paunova, and Lena Zander have been awarded the Best Paper Award 2024 by the European Journal of International Management for their groundbreaking research on diversity in multicultural teams.
Their award-winning paper, "Openness Towards Language Differences and Cultural Differences in Multicultural Teams: How Do They Interact?", examines how different positive attitudes toward international diversity impact team performance. Based on data from 1,085 team leaders in highly globalized academic research teams across the Nordic region, the study highlights a key finding: openness to language diversity strengthens the positive impact of openness to cultural values on team outcomes.
This research fills a crucial gap in diversity studies by exploring the interaction between different types of diversity attitudes—an aspect previously overlooked in the field.
