International Research on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion From the Perspective of Two Swedish Scholars

Two JIBS Professors Timur Uman (MMTC) and Karin Hellerstedt, have co-authored a new chapter titled “International Research on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion From the Perspective of Two Swedish Scholars” .

Book cover of International Perspectives of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion alongside portraits of authors Timur Uman and Karin Hellerstedt.

The chapter explores the importance of broadening diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) research beyond Western and business-centric contexts. Drawing on their experiences as researchers in Northern Europe, Timur and Karin advocate for a more globally inclusive and context-sensitive approach to DEI scholarship.

Through analyses of studies on cultural diversity in top management teams, healthcare teams, and entrepreneurship, the authors show how institutional and societal settings shape diversity outcomes. They call for action-oriented and interdisciplinary research to deepen understanding of how diversity operates across different sectors and societies.

This contribution aligns closely with MMTC’s focus on diversity, inclusion, and transformation, advancing discussions on how inclusive practices can drive organizational and societal change.
