MMTC at the Sustainable Business Competitiveness Summit 2026 in Nairobi
MMTC member Duncan Levinsohn recently participated in the Sustainable Business Competitiveness (SWC) Summit 2026, held in Nairobi, Kenya, where he shared reflections on the Swedish experience of building entrepreneurship ecosystems, with a particular focus on business–academia collaboration.
About the Summit
The Sustainable Business Competitiveness (SWC) Summit is an annual international forum that brings together business leaders, policymakers, academics, development organisations, and ecosystem builders to advance sustainable and competitive business practices. The summit focuses on key themes such as sustainability, innovation, leadership, ESG transformation, and cross-sector collaboration, with a strong emphasis on strengthening African entrepreneurship and enterprise development.
MMTC’s Contribution
At this year’s summit in Nairobi, Duncan Levinsohn contributed reflections based on Sweden’s experience of developing entrepreneurship ecosystems, highlighting how close collaboration between universities, businesses, and public actors can support innovation and skills development. His contribution addressed a challenge widely discussed at the summit: the frustration around graduates entering the labour market without sufficiently job-relevant skills.
Drawing on Swedish examples, Duncan emphasised the role of business–academia partnerships in aligning education with labour market needs, fostering entrepreneurial mindsets, and supporting more practice-oriented learning. These insights resonated strongly with summit discussions on how ecosystems can better connect education, innovation, and employment.
Duncan’s participation reflects MMTC’s continued engagement in international dialogues on entrepreneurship, sustainability, and ecosystem development, and connects directly to MMTC’s research on entrepreneurial ecosystems, innovation processes, knowledge exchange, and the societal impact of business and management practices.
