In the news: Einav Peretz Andersson Featured on SVT

MMTC member Einav Peretz Andersson, was featured on SVT Nyheter - Jönköping, discussing the significant ways in which artificial intelligence is influencing industries and jobs across society.
In her doctoral thesis Transform or be transformed: AI is here! A study of AI’s role in Organizational TransformAItion, Einav investigated how AI is adopted and embedded in organizations, both in the public sector and the private sector. The research draws on interviews with 246 small and medium-sized organisations in Jönköping County, uncovering a clear gap between AI expectations and actual organisational capabilities.
Key insights from her research
- AI maturity remains low in many organisations — despite widespread discourse about AI’s transformative potential. Many organisations talk about AI or run small pilot projects, but lack the strategic structures, skills and governance needed to scale use effectively.
- A central challenge is that the hype around AI has grown faster than organisational readiness, which constrains meaningful transformation.
- The public sector often faces obstacles such as unclear governance, limited expertise and fragmented responsibilities that impede responsible AI implementation.
- In the private sector, successful AI transformation depends on coordinated resources, learning and collaboration, as organisations develop portfolios of AI-related capabilities.
- Crucially, her research shows that higher levels of AI maturity are associated with improved organisational outcomes, including enhanced financial performance.
From research to public conversation
In the SVT interview, Einav emphasised that AI’s impact depends less on the technology itself and more on how organisations prepare for and integrate it in practice. This aligns with her academic work showing that AI transformation is a socio-technical process — one that reshapes organisational strategy, structure, decision-making and governance, and that requires investment in skills, learning and strategic adaptation.
“AI is already reshaping how organizations operate, but its real impact doesn’t come from the technology alone — it comes from how organizations prepare, adapt and build the capabilities to use it responsibly and meaningfully.”
