Carla Machado
MMTC member Carla Machado, has been awarded research funding through the Knowledge Foundation’s (KK-stiftelsen) Capacity Building programme. The initiative supports the development of strong research environments by enabling strategic recruitment and fostering collaboration between academia and industry.
The Capacity Building programme aims to strengthen universities’ ability to address future societal challenges by supporting both high-quality research and education. It provides funding for the recruitment of international guest researchers, as well as the appointment of adjunct professors or senior lecturers with placements at universities or within business partners.
A key objective of the programme is to promote mobility between academia and other sectors, both nationally and internationally. By enabling researchers and educators to move across institutional and organisational boundaries, the initiative contributes to knowledge exchange, innovation, and increased competitiveness in Swedish research environments.
As part of this initiative, Carla Machado will work with Volvo Construction Equipment to strengthen the connection between academic research and industry practice and create opportunities for impactful, practice-oriented research.
"We are very pleased and look forward to seeing this collaboration deepen. Building on our joint research on digital transformation and organisational change is extremely positive, and I am convinced this initiative will create meaningful value for both Volvo CE and JIBS/MMTC, as well as for the individuals engaged in the work".
Anna Ericson Öberg Ph.D., Research Strategy Manager - Volvo CE
Carla Machado’s research focuses on organisational transformation in digitally evolving contexts, with particular attention to how management practices adapt in response to technological and societal change. Her work contributes to a deeper understanding of how organisations can navigate complexity and remain resilient in times of transformation. This funding will open up new opportunities to collaborate with industry partners and reinforce the importance of co-creation in addressing today's organisational challenges.
MMTC warmly congratulates Carla Machado on this achievement and looks forward to following the continued development of her research and collaborations.
"The initiative brings together our teams, Volvo CE, and JIBS/MMTC, to accelerate innovation, strengthen digital capabilities, and translate research into practical, scalable solutions that deliver measurable value for our customers and our operations".
