Tom Evens will be visiting MMTC during April 2016 on the MMTC Visiting Scholar Fellowship Program.
Tom is a Senior Researcher at the Research Group for Media & ICT (iMinds-MICT) at Ghent University (Belgium). He specialises in the economics and policies of digital media markets, and lectures about media and innovation management at Ghent University. He holds a Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences (2005) and in Business Administration (2006) from Ghent University. In 2013, he successfully defended his PhD thesis on the political economy of the television industry. The thesis focused on the power dynamics between television broadcasters and platform operators (regarding carriage disputes and retransmission fees).
Tom is co-author of the book The Political Economy of Television Sports Rights (published by Palgrave Macmillan). He was a Visiting Doctoral Fellow at MMTC in 2012, and is an editorial board memeber of the Journal of Media Business Studies, which was founded and published by MMTC.
