MMTC researcher Carla Machado has authored two chapters in the newly released Springer volume, Critical Factors Associated with Environmental, Social and Governance Management in Organizations (2025).

These back-to-back chapters—Chapter 10: Understanding Sustainable Operations Frameworks and Chapter 11: Sustainability Indicators Design Process for ESG—offer critical insights into how organizations can better integrate sustainability into their operations and governance structures.

In Chapter 10, Carla examines a range of professional sustainability frameworks used by associations and consultants. Through content analysis, she identifies how these models address (or overlook) core concepts like CMMI alignment, strategic management, stakeholder governance, and circular economy principles.

Chapter 11 presents a structured methodology to design integrated sustainability performance indicators. Grounded in the Cambridge Process Approach and a Business Process Management (BPM) research cycle, the chapter guides organizations in building ESG-aligned systems for assessment, auditing, and transparent reporting.

These chapters reflect MMTC’s ongoing commitment to interdisciplinary research at the intersection of sustainability, innovation, and organizational transformation.

The book is part of the Springer series Accounting, Finance, Sustainability, Governance & Fraud: Theory and Application, and is available now via Springer External link, opens in new window.
