Fyery Adhena Abreha presents her Final Seminar
MMTC member and PhD Candidate in Business Administration Fyery Adhena Abreha has presented her Final Seminar, marking an important milestone in her doctoral studies at Jönköping International Business School (JIBS).
The seminar, entitled “Internal and external legitimacy challenges of hybrid organizations: The case of monasteries,” focused on how hybrid organizations navigate competing expectations from different stakeholders. By examining monasteries as a unique empirical context, Fyery's research provides insights into how organizations that combine multiple logics manage both internal coherence and external legitimacy. The study contributes to ongoing discussions in organization and management research on hybridity, legitimacy, and organizational sustainability.
The Final Seminar is a key stage in the PhD process. At this point, the doctoral dissertation is close to completion and is reviewed by senior scholars who assess the overall quality, coherence, and contribution of the research. The feedback provided during the seminar supports the final revisions of the thesis ahead of the public doctoral defence.
Fyery’s Final Seminar included constructive feedback from:
- Discussant: Associate Professor Adeyinka Adewale, University of Reading, UK
- Internal discussant: Associate Professor Olof Brunninge, Jönköping International Business School (JIBS)
The supervising team consists of:
- Principal supervisor: Professor Timur Uman, JIBS
- Deputy supervisors: Professor Emerita Ethel Brundin, JIBS, and Professor Benson Honig, McMaster University
MMTC congratulates Fyery on reaching this important milestone and thanks the discussants and supervisory team for their valuable academic contributions. Further information about her forthcoming public doctoral defence will be shared in due course.
