ORCID and ResearcherID provide unique identifiers for researchers. These identifiers will stay with the researcher throughout his or her career, irrespective of name changes or moving to another country.

In DiVA there is a field where to enter an ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID). To register an ORCID is free and it will make an exact identification of the researcher possible also in SwePub. 

From 2015 it is required to have an ORCID in order to apply for research funding through Prisma, the Swedish Research Council's, Formas' and Forte's joint application and case management system. To get a valid ORCID, you just have to go to ORCID and enter your name, e-mail address at Jönköping University, choose a password and finally approve the agreement.

ORCID is an important complement to the university's local user ID. In the long run ORCID will facilitate the management of user information regarding applications for research funding.

On the personal ORCID page there is a possibility to list publications using bibliographic records from Scopus, for instance. Furthermore, ORCID is also cooperating with ResearcherID which, through its connection to Web of Science and the reference management system EndNote Online, makes it easier to identify individual authors and publications.

Register a ResearcherID and connect your publications in Web of Science with ResearcherID. You can then get citation statistics, such as the H index. It is also possible to search for bibliographic records in Web of Science and import them into DiVA.
