Library mission
The University Library is Jönköping University's joint information resource for higher studies and scientific research. The mission of the University Library is to facilitate academic learning and strengthen the quality and dissemination of Jönköping University’s research.
The library's responsibilities include:
- Providing access to scholarly information resources tailored to JU’s education and research.
- Offering JU students a varied and stimulating learning environment that promotes safety and social sustainability.
- Assisting with guidance on information retrieval and the use of library resources.
- Teaching and tutoring in search techniques and information evaluation within an academic context.
- Teaching and supervising in academic writing and reading.
- Supporting the research process with systematic literature searches and advice on publishing and research data management.
- Making JU’s research publications accessible and providing publication statistics and bibliometric analyses.
- Serving as a link in the national transition toward open science.
- Supporting JU’s educators in their pedagogical competence development within the framework of the centre for academic teaching and learning, Educate.
The library is also a meeting place and a venue for knowledge exchange. As part of the public library system, the University Library has a mission to contribute to the development of a democratic society.
