The library participates in several national agreements that make it possible to publish open access articles for free or with a discount.

Open access journals commonly require authors to pay a fee, known as an Article Processing Charge (APC), in order to make articles freely available.

The library is currently part of several national agreements where all or part of the publication fee can be covered.

The agreement applies to 2021 and covers 54 journals.

Information from BMJ about the publishing process

The agreement applies to 2021-2023 and covers just over 300 journals.

 

Good to know:

The agreement covers all articles of the type Research or Review Articles. The agreement also includes a 20% discount on the costs of publishing books with open access. Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC-BY) license.

 

Information from Brill about the publishing process

The agreement applies to 2019-2021 and includes 290 subscription-based journals and 30 fully open access journals.


Good to know:

Once an article has been accepted, the author is asked to sign an open access agreement.

  • Fill out the Open Access license to publish form.
  • Wait for notification with a link to RightsLink's payment form.
  • Log in to RightsLink (if you do not already have an account, you will need to create one first).
  • Enter Jönköping University under Affiliation Discount. Confirm and exit.

 

Information from Cambridge University Press about the publishing process

The agreement applies to 2020-2022 and covers just over 2,000 journals.

 

Good to know:

In connection with the article being accepted for publication, the author receives a link to the publishing platform to select publishing options and a Creative Commons license. The library then verifies the author's JU affiliation.

Good to know:

Manuscripts are sent via ScholarOne.

  • Under Details and Comments, select the Yes, I want to publish my article as Open Access option.
  • Once the article has been accepted, the author is asked to sign a publishing license agreement.

 

Information from Emerald about the publishing pocess

The agreement applies to 2021–2023 and covers just over 85 journals.

The agreement covers all types of article types. Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC-BY) license.

The agreement applies to 2021 and covers approximately 30 journals.


Good to know:

  • Specify that the article should be published Open Access when it is sent to the publisher.
  • When the article is accepted, the publisher sends the link to a payment page.
  • Contact the library to get a code.
  • Select Apply Discounts and use the code in the Promo code box.
  • Click Apply Discounts to update your total to 0.00 GBP.
  • Select Payment Options and log in (if you already have an account with the Copyright Clearance Center) or register.
  • Once logged in, you can complete by clicking Next and proceed to the confirmation.


Information from Mark Allen Healthcare about the publishing process

The agreement applies to 2019–2021 and covers just over 340 journals.


Good to know:

  • Once an article has been accepted, the publisher sends login information to the Author Services Site. Select the license type on the Manuscript Licenses page.
  • On the page Publishing Charges for Your Article, there is the subheading Open Access Prepayment Account. Select Swedish Universities (Bibsam affiliated) in the drop-down menu.
  • The library then verifies the JU affiliation.

 

Information from Oxford University Press about the publishing process

The agreement applies to 2020–2023 and includes approximately 1,000 hybrid journals where the entire fee is covered, and 180 journals with open access where the agreement provides a 20% discount on the price.


Good to know:

Once an article has been accepted, the author is asked to use the SAGE Open Access Portal (SOAP) manuscript management system and confirm the choice of publishing options and Creative Commons license.


The 20% discount for the journals published in fully open journals is automatically deducted and the article is published with the CC BY-NC license unless the author contacts the publisher directly and requests another license.

The agreement applies from 2018 and covers just over 1,850 journals.

 

Good to know:

Article types covered are Original Papers, Review Papers, Brief Communications and Continuous Education. Once an article has been accepted, the author receives a link to the publishing platform MyPublication, where affiliation must be stated. The library then verifies the JU affiliation.

 

Information from SAGE about the publishing process

The agreement applies from 15 July 2019 - December 2021 and covers just over 430 journals. In addition to these, Springer has about 150 open access journals with no author fees.


Good to know:

Once an article has been accepted, the author receives a link to Springer's publishing system, where affiliation must be stated. The library then verifies the JU affiliation.

Good to know:

Once an article has been accepted and the library has verified the JU affiliation, the author is asked to sign an open access publishing agreement and state which Creative Commons license the article should have.


Information from Taylor & Francis about the publishing process

The agreement applies to 2020–2022 and covers just over 1,400 subscription-based journals (OnlineOpen) and just over 150 open access journals (Wiley Open Access).


Good to know:

  • When publishing in a journal in OnlineOpen, the author receives information via e-mail that the article is covered by the agreement and is asked to log in to the publisher's Author services.
  • Choose Select OnlineOpen and confirm your affiliation (Select Institution).

 

When publishing in a journal in Wiley Open Access, the author must state at submission that the organization has an agreement with Wiley and that the article must be paid for via the agreement.
