This course brings together theory, data, and computational tools to analyse real-world economic problems. It strengthens your ability to apply economic reasoning to complex, policy-relevant and real-world questions using modern analytical methods. The course combines advanced economic theory with hands-on data analysis, providing you with practical experience in managing, modelling, and interpreting large datasets across diverse fields of application. The course is structured around thematic modules that connect key areas of applied economics to contemporary challenges. Each module introduces a distinct topic—such as digital platforms, spatial patterns of economic activity, or public policy—and integrates theoretical modelling with empirical research methods. You will learn to use programming tools such as Python and Stata, apply causal inference techniques, and communicate your findings through transparent and reproducible research practices. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on bridging economic insights with data-driven analysis and effective communication. You will develop your ability to design, conduct, and evaluate empirical research that informs decisions in both policy and business environments, and to communicate your results effectively both in writing and orally.
