International Management 5 credits
Course Contents
Organisations around the world no longer operate solely within national borders. As an international manager, you must balance achieving global effectiveness with ensuring local responsiveness. This course introduces you to the key topics that distinguish international management from domestic management and that are essential for success in an international environment.
You will focus on understanding the international context and the risks associated with cross-border activities. You will explore how to engage with multiple stakeholders across borders while paying attention to culture, sustainability, and ethics. You will explore different types of internationalisation processes, including international entrepreneurship, and consider how firms organise international operations, including international HRM and leadership.
The course provides you with tools to analyse and evaluate various approaches to managing international operations. You will learn from faculty and guest speakers who share real-world international management experience. Through case studies and practical exercises, you will develop relevant managerial and intercultural skills. The diverse, international composition of the student group will also act as a living laboratory for practising effective intercultural communication and collaboration.
