Managing corporations responsibly is a key challenge of businesses in most regions of the world. The course provides conceptual tools for understanding the role played by sustainability in corporations. Sustainability perspectives are used to explore how companies improve their operational efficiencies, innovate and comply with regulations and accepted practices.. The topic covered in the course include : • Sustainable development, including the meanings and relevance of sustainability and the ways in which the management of corporate sustainability affects social and environmental systems. • Development phases of corporate sustainability, including different development paths of corporate responsibility and their implications. • Compliance, operational efficiencies and transformation, including the importance and approaches to working proactively with compliance, operational efficiencies and transformation in the corporation. • Responsible management practices, including the relationship between individual ethics and the sustainability practices of owner and managers, as well as the role of ethics in business responsibility and sustainability.
