Research Methods in Entrepreneurship and Innovation 5 credits
Course Contents
Entrepreneurship and innovation are fascinating, yet also complex phenomena. The better we understand their intricate workings, the better we can leverage their power to make a positive impact. Thousands of scholars have therefore answered important questions that have helped us progress in our understanding. But with every question answered, new ones emerge. Changes in our environment challenge what might previously have been considered “established knowledge.” We discover new blind spots that require further attention. And new research methods enable us to answer questions we couldn’t before.
Understanding how to conduct impactful academic research that is both rigorous and relevant enables you to make a lasting imprint with your Master’s thesis and contribute to our understanding of entrepreneurship and innovation. This course will guide you through the necessary steps and prepare you for this challenge. We will expose you to a range of research topics within entrepreneurship and innovation, covering both established and emerging fields. With our guidance, your task will be to find a research problem that is worth addressing. You will learn about different research methods, their benefits and limitations, and how to select one that fits your research question. For each research method, we will show you matching analytical approaches and how to best communicate your findings in written and verbal forms.
After the course, you will not only be prepared to write a Master’s thesis, but also understand the process of knowledge creation. This academic mind- and skillset will be a valuable aid regardless of whether you aspire to a career outside or within academia.
