Responsible Leadership and Change in Global Organisations 5 credits
Course Contents
Contemporary organisations necessitate leaders capable of responsibly guiding change across cultural boundaries. In this business environment traditional hierarchies are diminishing, remote teams extend across continents, and stakeholders demand ethical decision-making in conjunction with profit generation. This reality requires leadership competencies that respect both commercial objectives and human dignity; however, cultivating these skills whilst managing cultural complexity presents considerable challenges.
You will explore the psychological and sociological foundations of leadership behaviour, examining the influence of power dynamics and emotional intelligence on organisational transformation. The course addresses change management frameworks suited to international contexts, conflict-resolution strategies for multicultural environments, and negotiation techniques that foster, rather than exploit, relationships. Through real-world case studies, you will analyse how cultural awareness influences leadership effectiveness, examine the role of ethics in decision-making processes, and investigate how sustainability considerations are reshaping traditional business models.
Upon completion of the course, you will be able to account for core leadership theories and explain key dimensions of responsible leadership; evaluate leadership approaches to implementing change in multicultural environments; critically assess your own leadership style in changing situations using relevant literature; and explain the role of leadership in collaboration, integration and coordination processes in complex global change contexts.
