SDGs

In 2012, the United Nations produced a set of “universal goals” that meet the urgent environmental, political and economic challenges our world is going through.

At the UN Summit on 25 September 2015, the world’s heads of state and government adopted 17 Global Goals. The countries of the world have committed themselves to leading the world towards a sustainable and equitable future, beginning on 1 January 2016 and continuing until 2030.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a collection of 17 global goals to achieve by 2030. All 17 goals are connected, built on a holistic approach, meaning that no goal is to be left behind and that “success in one affects success for others”.

Mapping the current activities of CeFEO in research, education, and outreach, we can recognise our contribution to 9 SGGs:

• 3 – Good health & wellbeing – Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all and at all ages.
• 4 – Quality education – Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
• 5 – Gender equality – Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
• 8 – Decent work & economic growth – Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.
• 9 – Industry, innovation & infrastructure – Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
• 10 – Reduce inequalities – Reduce inequality within and among countries.
• 11 – Sustainable cities & communities – Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
• 12 – Responsible consumption and production – Ensure sustainable consumption and production pattern.
• 17 – Partnerships for the goals – Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.

It is our interest and commitment in the near future to improve this mapping process, by better profiling our initiatives and research projects. We indeed believe that reaching the SDGs by 2030 is a challenge that we all share. Therefore, we are taking a step-by-step approach and work from bottom-up. We will soon present stories to that contribute to drive a change.

Principles for Responsible Management
Education (PRME)

JIBS is part of the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) global initiative, launched in 2007 by the United Nations. The work of PRME at JIBS is materialized through its guiding principle to be Responsible in Action. This principle is central to advancing our commitment to educating responsible leaders and becoming a role model in our industry.
