Book a consultation with the Academic Language Center to receive support and tips on how to develop your writing.

We can help you with:

  • the structure and the coherence in your writing
  • source integration and referencing
  • language and academic style
  • Contact us at academiclanguage@ju.se to book a consultation.
  • We recommend booking your consultation at least two days in advance.
  • It is often possible to book a consultation on short notice, depending on our workload. In such cases, we may need to spend the first part of the meeting reading your text.
  • You do not need to have a finished draft to book a consultation. You are welcome to meet with us at the very beginning of a course assignment or thesis writing process. We can help you get started with your writing or discuss structure and organisation.
  • If you are working in a group, we kindly ask that all group members attend the consultation.
  • You are welcome to book multiple consultations per semester, but only one at a time.
  • Please remember to email us and cancel booking if you are unable to attend!
  • Submit your full draft, including your teacher’s instructions, by emailing academiclanguage@ju.se no later than 24 hours before your consultation.
  • If your consultation is on a Monday, please send your text by Friday—unless otherwise agreed.
  • Feel free to mention if you would like to focus on a specific aspect of writing or a particular part of your text during the consultation.
  • We read a maximum of 3–5 pages of your text and prepare tips and feedback to discuss during the meeting.
  • A consultation lasts approximately 45–60 minutes.
  • The consultation is a learning opportunity where you receive advice and practical tools to help you develop your academic writing. You are of course also welcome to raise any questions or aspects you would like to discuss.
  • We only provide oral feedback. You are responsible for taking notes during the meeting.
  • We do not proofread or correct the language in your text.
  • You are the expert in your subject area. We do not comment on or weigh in on subject-specific content. Instead, we focus on structure, language, and style. We also do not assess whether your text meets grading criteria.
  • The goal of the consultation is to support your growth as a writer.

You are warmly welcome to contact us at the Academic Language Center!
