JU Solar Team best Swedish team in Bridgestone World Solar Challenge
JU Solar Team was once again the best Swedish team in the world's largest solar car competition Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in Australia. They came in eighth place out of 40 starting teams."It feels incredible to be at the finish line and I am so proud of the team and our performance in the competition," says Matilda Svensson Duric, Team Manager for JU Solar Team 2025.

Interesting lectures this autumn – JU LIVE is back
Jönköping University (JU) conducts research that makes a difference – both for society and for individuals. This autumn, the popular JU LIVE lecture series continues, where you can learn about current and interesting research directly from the academics themselves. The autumn semester series starts on 4 September and includes four inspiring lectures held in the university library's historic premises. The event is free and open to anyone who wants to broaden their horizons. All lectures are held in Swedish.

Togetherness and joy in focus at the Kick Off
About 3,300 new students have arrived to Jönköping University (JU). Before they begin their studies this fall there is a ten-day Kick Off with focus on togetherness, safety and fun times."It really feels like everyone is here to have fun together," says Madeline Alderman, who is an exchange student at the School of Health and Welfare at JU.

Joakim Paasikivi and Peter Björkman named honorary doctors
Honorary doctor is a title awarded to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the development of research and education at Jönköping University (JU). Joakim Paasikivi, military strategist and retired lieutenant colonel in the Swedish army, and Peter Björkman, lighting design manager at Fagerhult Lighting, have been appointed honorary doctors at JU by Vice-Chancellor Måns Svensson. The conferment will take place on 29 November at Jönköping University's Academic Ceremony.

Jönköping University in this year's Pride Parade
Jönköping Pride Week took place from 18 to 24 August, with rainbow flags flying all over the city. The Pride flag also flew at Jönköping University (JU) during the week, which ended with the Pride Parade and a party in Rådhusparken on Saturday 23 August.“What a great group we were from JU. Staff and students together. In the name of love for human rights against dark forces, and of course we had fun,” said Michael Sjökvist, lecturer at the School of Health and Welfare at Jönköping University (JU).

JU Solar Team ready for solar car racing in Australia
The JU Solar Team has been in Australia for a month ahead of the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge on August 24-31, where the participants cross the continent in solar cars."There are some really sharp teams in the competition, but of course we aim for victory," says Matilda Duric Svensson, Team Manager for JU Solar Team 2025.

Jönköping wants to inspire next-generation talents in metal technology
The School of Engineering (JTH) at Jönköping University (JU) is leading the NextMetals initiative to raise raise school pupils' interest in metallic materials and manufacturing. The Swedish Foundry Association, the municipality of Jönköping, Husqvarna and the non-profit organization Makers Jönköping are partners in the project, which is funded by Vinnova."NextMetals will pilot in the Jönköping region, which is a key Swedish metal hub, and eventually expand nationally," says Ehsan Ghassemali, Professor Materials and Manufacturing - Casting at JTH and project manager for NextMetals.
