The need in the field of orthotics is immense. Many people require assistive devices in their lives and daily activities. You will make a difference for these individuals by working with assistive devices that replace lost body parts (prosthetics) or support weakened structures (orthoses).

At Jönköping University, there are three programs in the field of orthotics: Prosthetists and Orthotists, orthotics which is a vocational education program, and product development with a focus on assistive technology at an advanced level.

Prosthetists and Orthotists

Prosthetists and Orthotists makes it possible to enhance people's quality of life with technology in cases of disabilities such as amputations, paralysis, or deformities. As an Prosthetists and Orthotists, you work closely with the client to provide the best possible function.

Orthopedic Technician, Higher Vocational Education

As an orthotics technician, you work closely with the Prosthetists and Orthotists. Together, you work on testing, adjusting, and manufacturing orthopedic devices. The work of an orthotics technician requires high technical competence in production and manufacturing techniques, where the technology must be adapted to individual solutions.

The next intake for the Orthotics Technician program is planned for autumn 2027.

The program will be conducted remotely, and the application for the next intake will open in mid-March 2027 and close in mid-April 2027.

MASTech - Product development with a focus on assistive technology

The development of assistive technology requires a unique combination of medical and technical knowledge. The master's program is aimed at those with a background in prosthetics and orthotics or mechanical engineering who are seeking a career in the assistive technology sector.
