Alain Dugu

Industrial Doctoral Student

Alain Dugu is an industrial researcher at Scania in collaboration with Jönköping University. His research focuses on sand reclamation in the foundry process, with the aim of increasing the reuse of sand in casting production. The project seeks to understand the physical and chemical properties of used foundry sand in order to determine how much material can be reclaimed and reused without affecting casting quality.

By studying factors such as grain characteristics, binder residues, and contamination levels, the research supports more efficient and sustainable sand management. The goal is to reduce waste, lower raw material consumption, and improve environmental performance in foundry operations.

Alain holds a Master of Science in Engineering from Luleå University of Technology, specializing in Sustainable Process Engineering. His background in sustainable industrial processes supports his work in developing practical and environmentally responsible solutions for manufacturing.
