Research and Inquire Methodology 7,5 Credits

Course Contents

The course gives and insight in the foundations of science. Terms and concepts from scientific research are taught in the course. Students are trained in understanding how science is conducted and evaluated. The structure of academic reporting in theses, papers and dissertations is covered in the course. The course is preparatory for conducting the thesis work and the authoring the thesis.

The course includes the following elements:
- The theoretical foundations of science
- Academic writing
- Scientific methods in technology, product and production development, and design
- Understanding results in science

Prerequisites

The applicant must hold the minimun of a bachelor´s degree (ie. the equivalent of 180 ECTS credits at an accredited university) with at least 90 credits within the major subject in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management or Civil Engineering, and 15 credits in Mathematics. Proof of English proficiency is required.
