Component Casting 6 credits
This course opens the door to the fascinating world of casting! Here you will get familiar with different component casting processes and several casting related phenomena as heat transfer, solidification, microstructure formation, defects and residual stresses. You will also get a basic overview of how these phenomena relates to the design of the component and can be investigated using casting process simulation software. The course is given with a combination of online lectures, self-studies, home assignments, online discussion in the forum and simulation exercises from home using VDI (possibly also at the campus in Jönköping).
