Environmental Impact Assessment of Castings 3 credits
Casting is the world’s most widely used method for manufacturing components. Products tend to be more and more complex with higher demands on performance, energy consumption, environment load and costs. This course provides an overview of environmental impact of casting and cast products during a complete lifecycle. You will learn about environmental impact from supply chain, energy source, choice of rawmaterial and technology. We will discuss the impact a foundry make in the environment and the importance of correct design. You will also learn how to make a life cycle assessment and tools to use for this. This course is given with a combination of online lectures and self-studies.
