This course gives a brief overview of the history of architecture and the development of building technology in the Western world, from antiquity to modern times. The focus is on the period after the year 1900.
The course includes:
The historical development of the built environment, from antiquity until the year 1900, divided in style periods
The history of modern architecture, from the year 1900
The development of building technology
Tradition and renewal
Materials and detailing
Prerequisites
General entry requirements and completed course Built Environment, 9 credits (or the equivalent).
