Sustainable Finance and Risk Assessment 7.5 credits
Course Contents
This course introduces students to sustainable finance and risk assessment. The course deals with the operations and methods of neoclassical corporate finance and risk assessment, and how sustainability strategies are incorporated into finance and risk frameworks to achieve desired social and environmental policy outcomes. Students contrast how traditional models in risk and finance differ from sustainable frameworks or approaches to risk assessment and financial decision making.
**Connection to Research and Practice**
The fields of finance and risk assessment are being radically transformed by issues related to global sustainability challenges. Thus, a clear understanding of sustainable finance and risk assessment is necessary for enterprise decision making. Sustainable finance is currently the most dynamic research area in finance and is closely connected to JIBS focus areas such as entrepreneurship and ownership. In this course, the students develop critical thinking skills by reflecting upon the differences and similarities between neoclassical and sustainable finance in order to account for social and environmental outcomes.
