## About the programme International economics explores how trade, financial markets, and global policies impact businesses and societies. As global markets become more complex and data-driven, there is an increasing demand for economists who can think critically, analyse data, and understand international trends in sustainability and innovation. This programme prepares you for exactly that. In your first year, you will build a broad foundation in business, economics, and statistics, studying core subjects such as organisation, finance, marketing, accounting, micro- and macroeconomics, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. This broad base helps you see economics in the wider context of business and society. From your second year, you will specialise in international economics through courses in mathematics, international trade, regional economics, financial markets, and econometrics. You will also gain hands-on experience with large datasets, econometric modelling, and AI-supported tools for data analysis, strengthening your ability to turn complex information into clear, evidence-based insights. This combination of broad foundations and specialised courses gives you the tools to analyse global challenges from an economist’s perspective. ### Economics with a sustainable perspective The programme develops your ability to think critically, analyse global challenges, and act responsibly. You will strengthen your communication and analytical skills while gaining an international outlook and entrepreneurial mindset. Grounded in a Nordic approach, the programme emphasises sustainability, equality, and long-term value creation - values that are highly relevant in today’s global economy. ### Learning for the future At JIBS, theory and practice are closely connected. You will work with cases, projects, and real-world data while developing advanced analytical, research, and presentation skills. The programme concludes with a bachelor's thesis, where you apply and integrate what you have learned in a focused international economics study. ### International opportunities You will study in a dynamic, international campus environment and can further customise your degree through: - A semester abroad at one of our many partner universities worldwide. - Elective courses to strengthen your profile. - An internship in Sweden or internationally. These opportunities broaden your perspective, expand your global network, and strengthen your CV. ### Your future career Graduates of International Economics are well prepared for careers as economists, analysts, consultants, policy advisors, or business developers in international organisations, banks, companies, government agencies, and NGOs. With strong analytical and data skills, combined with knowledge of AI and digital tools, you will be highly competitive in the global job market. Many graduates also continue with master’s or doctoral studies in economics or related fields.
