About the programme:
This web-based, advanced level programme for occupational therapists offers flexibility to study from anywhere in the world. Students can choose to study part-time (50% study pace), allowing for combination with work, or full-time (100% study pace) and complete the programme within four or two years, respectively.
The programme provides you knowledge to critically and systematically integrate theory and evidence in occupational therapy. You will also learn to analyse, assess, and handle complex phenomena, problems, and situations through assignments in the courses. The courses focus on evidence-based practice in occupational therapy, occupation in relation to health, occupational science, scientific methods, and sustainable health promotion and community development through collaborations. Students can often choose the focus of their assignments and formulate their own research questions that are relevant to their practice and contexts. Students acquire knowledge to integrate theory and evidence in occupational therapy that help them develop professionally.
Work experience within occupational therapy is preferred but not required for admission into the programme. In assignments, you can often choose to focus on a broad topic in occupational therapy or particular area that is personally interesting and/or relevant to your practice and context.

After graduation
After completing the programme, you will have in-depth knowledge on sustainable evidence-based practice and theories that you can apply to work in various settings, such as government sectors, home healthcare, hospitals and rehabilitation centres, occupational health care, private practice, schools, and social care. Additionally, you become eligible for doctoral education that can start your research or teaching career. If you are an occupational therapist in Sweden, the master's degree can allow you to pursue specialization in a field in occupational therapy.
Internationalisation
You will take part of an internationalised curriculum and interactions with students and teachers from different countries and cultural backgrounds without leaving home. You will be encouraged to understand how occupational therapy is framed within a global context, acknowledge the local implications of global research, and apply a broader frame of reference in your own contexts. The programme is in English and fully online.
Practical experience
Courses on evidence-based practice and community-based practice involve developing and applying practical knowledge. There is no clinical internship within the programme, but you are encouraged to cultivate contacts for the community-based development project and thesis work.
